This pop starlet ready to release her newest single ‘Cruel Love’

Scarlet small

Booze!? Tequila!

A huge fan, Head of Absolute Radio James Curran had this to say following a recent blockbusting performance at Hard Rock Rising in London:

“By far the best female vocal we have seen in this competition!”

BBC Introducing Oxford have debuted Cruel Love already with DJ Dave Gilyeat saying “this track should be in the charts”! Add to that Kat Orman of BBC Oxford labelling her ‘One To Watch’ in 2015 and the stars are aligning for Scarlet Baxter.

Single ‘Cruel Love’, released on July 20th, will no doubt continue to win over fans with its superb production values and slick pop sound:

“Scarlet has no fear and has clear goals to make 2015 her year” – Mark Boardman (Music Journalist).

Described by Cigarette Sounds as “the next woman of pop”, Scarlet Baxter’s rise has been meteoric. Working consistently in a tight knit team with talented guitarist Dominic Ireland and co-writers, John McLaughlin, Judd Mahoney & Natalie DeLucia, Scarlet has derived an entire catalogue of original material in only a year. The team specialise in catchy, radio ready tunes with genuine feel good factor – as proven by excellent previous singles ‘Backsliding’, ‘Stuck’ and ‘Down With It’.

Crazy Fenton making some noise with ‘Cool Ella’ single

A welcome throwback to the golden ages of punk and rock, Crazy Fenton is the musical brainchild of songwriter Clive Aliker – a Norfolk based artist who is a big fan of making a good old fashioned ruckus. With influences from 60s garage rock and 70s punk all the way through to the modern day, Crazy Fenton is the work of a veteran musician who certainly knows how to rattle out a top tune.

20150203_110526

Having worked with renowned producer Dave Allen (The Cure, Human League, Chameleons) to arrive at an energetic studio style, the new single ‘Cool Ella’ is set for release on June 22nd. High energy and built on a foundation of distorted guitars and pounding drums, this is one for fans of the classics.

‘Cool Ella’ is one hell of a way to come out fighting, and with the follow up album due a couple of weeks later on July 13th, you will be hearing a lot more of Crazy Fenton in 2015. The album, produced by British EDM trailblazer Alex Banks (EZ Rollers), is the kind of release which will have the music industry on high alert with its raw song writing and production values.

With lyrics inspired – in Clive Aliker’s own words – by ‘deaths, mental failings, and a complete inability to understand the female species’, these are songs that listeners can’t fail to relate to.

And in ‘Cool Ella’, Crazy Fenton has picked out one hell of an entrance.

Court Royal insist you ‘Watch Yourself’ – single out soon

May 29th through Fly on the Wall Records

BOOZE!? CIDER!

With the single due on May 29th, the next couple of months are set to be very busy for Court Royal. May 24th sees them play a hugely anticipated show at Goodison Park, the home of Everton Football Club, while in August they will take to the stage as part of the bill at the prestigious Strawberry Fields Festival. And, with an upcoming album already in the bag, it’s unlikely things will quieten down for Court Royal anytime soon.

It all feeds perfectly into the band’s main aim – to bring FUNK back to the UK music scene in 2015. And with previous single ‘Can’t Get Enough’ fast tracked onto the BBC Introducing playlist on the same night as it was uploaded, that target doesn’t feel like an impossible one.

Aside from the music, Court Royal also have something of a unique boast – how many bands can say that two of their members work for the emergency services? Juggling high pressure work like that with creating top class music can’t be easy, but in the case of Court Royal, it is all taken in stride.

Keep an eye on Court Royal in 2015 – ‘Watch Yourself’ is unleashed on May 29th.

Yo ready to make you ‘Shake It’ With New Single!

Post-punk indie single set to hit on June 15th

Booze? Rum!

Currently based in New Orleans – the birthplace of soul and jazz – Yo are a rock band not afraid to go against the grain. After travelling the globe and making homes in various areas of the USA and Europe, the music and song writing draws upon a wealth of inspirations and tales from the road.

shakeit_RGB_HQ

The latest single taken from the album will be the rough hitting, punk laced track ‘Shake It’ – dripping in punchy bass-lines, quasi-spoken vocals and a distinctly trippy sensibility.

‘Shake It’ as a track represents just one of the many facets and styles that make Yo such an interesting band. Each track is specifically influenced by the place, time and events of its conception, so pinning down a genre is something of a challenge.

You can hear the track here:

Watch the video here:

The single is taken from the album ‘Vagrancy’, an LP which demonstrates perfectly the versatile nature of Yo’s song writing. Songs such as ‘Shake It’ are seemingly built for the high energy of live performance, but other tracks on the album suit different environments. Whether chilling out at a festival, going for it on a club dance floor, jumping around at a live gig or relaxing in a local pub, there will be a song on this album which fits perfectly to every situation.

Altogether, it makes for a heady cocktail which is tough to pigeonhole, sewn together by the originality of vocalist Andre’s delivery.

Single ‘Shake It’ will be available from June 15th.

Vanbot due to release new album “Perfect Storm” 15th May

“Why are Swedish female pop stars always so brilliant?…”  – The Guardian

“Thrilling” – NYLON Magazine

“Massive,  pumped full of space-age electronica & soaring synthesizers…” – MTV Buzzworthy

ZCapture

Stockholm melody master Vanbot has announced her return with upcoming albumPerfect Storm, the electro-pop purist’s follow-up album to her 2011 debut. Riding on the acclaim from the likes of Nylon, The Guardian, Pop Justice, Interview Magazine and MTV, the Johannes Berglund (The Knife, I Break Horses) produced & mixed record sees Vanbot embark on a darker and more evocative spectrum than previous outings.

Shelving a virtually complete album in 2013 after a creative breakdown, Vanbot (real name Ester Ideskog) began anew and vowed to lean away from musical norm in search of a greater bite and growl. Despite the change in direction, Vanbot still thrives on the same DIY spirit and never ending enthusiasm for crafting unstoppable pop. The result is one of the strongest pop albums of the year so far, where every song has great single potential, whilst the complete listen takes one one a unique journey.

Perfect Storm is shadowy and dangerous and will rub soldiers with the likes of Lykke Li’s 2014 release I Never Learn and Robyn’s Body Talk series. Vanbot’s trademark melody perfection from previous releases remains but it has been made slicker and more pliable, now part of the wider conversation and not the sole focus. Driving beats and tense compositions now take precedence, with Vanbot now leaner, edgier and gloriously confident in her freedom to create exactly what she wants with part co-writers Jan Kask and Adam Olenius (Say Lou Lou, Tove Styrke, Shout Out Louds).

Perfect Storm will be released 15th May via Lisch Recordings and Sony Music Sweden, with Vanbot appearing in a number of European performances including London’s Hoxton Bar & Grill on 8th May.

Track list:

  1. Perfect Storm (Part I)
  2. Trooper
  3. The Way You Say It
  4. Bite The Bullet
  5. Watching You Sleep
  6. Shake
  7. Maniac
  8. June
  9. Seven
  10. Better In The Light
  11. Secrets
  12. Stay Alive
  13. Perfect Storm (Part II)

Berenice Scott bewitches with piano-pop single ‘Walls Cave in’

New release unveiled on May 11th

Born in Paris, France but now based in London, Berenice Scott is the talented product of a truly bohemian upbringing. After travelling the world with artistic parents – a French mother and British father – drinking in a host of musical influences to inform her own writing, her chamber-pop songs are a thoughtful mix of wistfulness and a quiet power.

Berenice Scott Torso Shot

A professional session musician specialising in the commercial pop world, her independent, improvisational spirit grew from early days as a pianist. Piano teachers would grow frustrated with her penchant for playing around with structures and learning by ear as opposed to reading music by sight, but in reality Berenice was finding her own way, by feel for the music as opposed to prescribed routes and notes.

With a songwriting style driven by a love of piano, Berenice Scott’s album ‘Polarity’ consistently provides excellent tracks from top to tail, including stunning singles such as ‘Walls Cave In’ – a beautifully building ballad which calls to mind the blended subtleties and pop sensibilities of Sarah McLachlan  and Vanessa Carlton: Video –

The album ‘Polarity’ is a gorgeous collection, created from a range of experiences, lyrically and musically matched to the emotions felt by Berenice Scott throughout her life. It’s a life which has evolved from growing up in a world of artistic genius, her parents counting Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood as their friends and contemporaries and sharing holidays with icons such as Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall.

For fans who really want to get to know Berenice Scott, check out her YouTube channel for an informal video series called ‘The Breakfast Club Sessions’, in which acoustic sessions are captured raw and without the pomp and pressure of the spotlight.

‘Walls Cave In’ will be available on May 25th, followed by album ‘Polarity’ which will be available on June 8th.
