New dance combo Woolfman and JStew inject some late summer sun

Urban nightlife has always heralded a heartfelt sanctuary for escapism and positivity. Such is the message from a new transatlantic collaboration: Woolfman and JStew who urge all to shed their burdens and ‘Listen to the Beat’.

Woolfman and JStew

This is an absolute stomper of a dance track and is nothing short of vibrant – coming in hot with a vision to inject new life into what they perceive as a colourless tapestry of music today. Heavy bass rhythm announces it’s presence on the scene before being interjected with mischievous and playful piano chords. JStew plays circus-master, leading you through the vision with guile and charisma; one moment taking you by the hand to sour through air before suddenly bright lights flash and you’re part of the masses that answered to call to ‘Listen to the Beat’.

The project itself is one that seeks to progress as a mainstream brand evolving from a club base as a collaboration between producer and artist, with future projects centering around different artists. Add in Steve Simpson at Concrete Promotions who played the vanilla version to ‘Mr E’ and come back with 2 special remixes of the track.

The Woolfman has been lurking in the shadows of the music scene for quite some time now. From a heritage of 90’s music and industry experience, Woolfman claims his creative insight for crafting tunes has come to him ‘’in dreams’’ and this is a recurring concept that embodies this track in particular with what they are trying to accomplish.

US Gospel singer JStew, who is also a pastor at his local church back in San Francisco, draws inspiration from heroic titans such as Aretha Franklin and Marvin Gaye arriving with his own vision to make wonderfully vibrant and exciting music. JStew’s personal angle is one of gospel in his heart saying: “I believe my grounding in this vibrant style of music gives shape to my current style. I sing from my heart…” Through this comes transcendence through music, born from dreams. Distinguishably Woolfman, one of the founding members of Gang of Four, was kicked out of the band for “meditating in soundcheck”.

As dusk finally settles on this most memorable of summers, don’t let the colours fade. A new sun has risen, and this one thrives at night as well. And it also mixes great with a dash of tequila.

Nancy Black returns with sassy EP ‘Dirty Little Bass’

Nancy Black - DLB - Cover - FINAL.jpg

In a music business saturated with pop starlets, Nancy Black is an independent singer-songwriter with formidable sass and style that has mesmerised audiences nationally. Having collaborated with hip hop artists Lonzo Starr and Young Rob, gained support from Major Lazor and reached number 8 on the Music Week Commercial Chart, Black has developed her own unique style for her upcoming EP ‘Dirty Little Bass’.

Watch the music video to ‘Dirty Little Bass’ here:

https://vimeo.com/187274476

The English rose meets pop princess started writing music at the age of 13 and soon formed the all-girl rock band Pink Lemons, before gaining the confidence to head out as a solo artist. From going solo Black developed her sound, having a much more commercial sound but with killer dance beats to give her music that unique edge.

‘Dirty Little Bass’ is bursting with pop anthems but with carefully crafted emotive lyrics controlling the tracks.  Black found herself writing the EP in a strange moment of euphoria, after a bad break up with a girl she fell head over heels in love with. Although a nasty break up, it led Black to grow stronger and use music as an escape from the heartbreak.

What Drink?

This definitely one for the nightclub, so I’m going to pick a classic vodka and coke!

NEW: Nasa Woods

img_76954444444444Overcoming dark times to reach where he is now, rising West-London-based singer Nasa Woods comes through with ‘Alitheia’, sporting an experimental urban sound that competes with the likes of Zayn Malik, Usher and Justin Timberlake.

The gritty track shows off Nasa’s emotive vocals to the accompaniment of a hypnotic beat.

Watch the steamy video for ‘Alitheia’ here:

The concept of the song came about whilst in a car journey with producer TruOmega.

Nasa explains: ‘Alitheia, means truth in greek. We always tend to speak the truth when we’re intoxicated so the song represents a moment of struggle between holding back and being honest with someone you love.

Nasa’s new personal direction comes from having to start from scratch after previous musical projects collapsed, including being a member of a boy band.

Now working with upcoming producers and solidifying his sound, Nasa has a promising future ahead of him!

I’d enjoy this track with a nice gin and tonic or a glass of chilled white wine.

Alitheia is out 21/10/16
